Finishing Techniques

The course is a response to the need for improving the finished quality of wooden, rattan or bamboo products. Bleaching/Dyeing of Rattan, Vines and Other Non-Wood Forest Products

A major problem in the utilization of rattan, and other non-wood forest products for furniture and handicraft is fungal staining. It causes discoloration on the surface. The presences of unsightly blemishes reduces the saleability of the products.

The bleaching and dyeing processes help remove or camouflage the blemishes or discoloration, hence improves the surface appearance of the raw materials.

It focuses on the methods for removing fungal discoloration to enhance product quality and improve marketability.
